This Spring make them GREEN with envy!

If your favourite colour is green like my sister then this Spring you’re in luck! Green has been popping up everywhere. Here are a few ways to incorporate this hot colour in your life.

1. Apparel
This is probably the easiest way to incorporate this colour since we all probably own a green shirt already. I mean how did you get away without wearing any green on St. Patrick’s day?! haha Here are some items that I think would be great in anyone’s closet:

2. Beauty items
This method is probably the cheapest way to incorporate green into your lifestyle. Nail polishes, eyeshadows, and eyeliners oh my!

Check your local Sephora for pricing.

3. House & Home Decor
Incorporating green into your house totally depends on your budget. It can be as simple as a pillow cushion or as dramatic as repainting your house.

Brown Smokey Eye

This is great if you’re just starting to play with makeup or you want a daytime smokey eye to wear to school or work. With practice you will be done under 5 minutes guaranteed!

What you need:

  • Eyeliner
  • Brown eyeshadows (dark and a light)
  • Angled brush
  • Eyeshadow brush

If you don’t have a variety of brown eyeshadows and don’t want to spend money I used a palette from H&M. It’s super inexpensive and totally affordable!

Anyways let’s get started!

Sparkle In Your Eye

Who doesn’t like sparkly and shiny things? haha anyways I did two different looks because I’m so nice! Also I’ve realized some people might just want some glitter without going overboard.

I tagged this a tutorial but it’s so simple that you don’t really need step by step instructions! Also I did this over makeup I already had on in case you’re wondering haha

What you need: Glitter Eyeliner

This is from their holiday stuff but any glitter eyeliner (preferably liquid) works best. You just want to make sure it has a brush since it’s easier to trace. Also I find this method way easier than using loose glitter powder.

Look one: Simple Silver

Taking your silver just go over your black eyeliner. You might ask why black eyeliner, well it’s because it POPS! And now you’re done :)

Look two: Gold Baby

Step 1: Use a gold eyeshadow all over your eyelid. Any gold will do but if you want maximum glitter use an eyeshadow with glitter/shimmer with it. Sephora has eyeshadows with glitter that are decently priced.

For dimension I used a neutral brown/tan colour in the crease.

Step 2: Taking your gold eyeliner go over your whole lid but don’t go up to your brow bone with this! If you want apply some of your glitter eyeliner over your eyelashes after you’ve applied your mascara.

For maximum glittery eyes go over your whole lid twice with your glitter eyeliner. Just make sure to let it dry in between coats. Glitter does take a minute or two to dry!

With flash:

This was with just 1 layer of glitter eyeliner, but feel free to use more if this isn’t enough for you!

Rest of the face: Keep the attention on your eyes so avoid other makeup with shimmer. You don’t want your face to look like a giant disco ball!

Tokidoki Arte Palette Review

I always love the packaging tokidoki uses and since it was the first product I’ve had from them I was super excited to try it. I can’t say I was too impressed though. I definitely think the makeup is for a younger crowd or for those who generally don’t wear makeup.

I first thought the blush would be more like a coral/orange just based off of the colouring on the back of the palette but when I opened up the palette it’s a sparkly pink.

A look inside:

Advantages:

  • Great if you’re just starting to wear makeup.
The colours are very, very sheer.
  • Worth the price.
According to Sephora it’s $48 value!
  • Travel friendly.
It’s definitely compact so great if you just want to bring a couple colours on vacation.

Disadvantages:

  • Sheer/Not pigmented.
You can’t even tell I’m wearing eyeshadow half the time, but maybe I should try the darker colours more?
  • The blush is too sparkly.
If you have sheer eyeshadows you would think your blush would be as sheer. I found it’s just too much sparkle/glitter for a blush, but it is a nice colour!

Swatches:

Overall this is something someone who is just starting to wear makeup would love. I think it would be great for your younger cousins who like makeup but don’t want to/need to look like they’re from Toddlers & Tiaras.

I can’t have nice things.

This doesn’t look too bad since most of the eyeshadow that broke off is in the garbage now -_- but the stupid thing is I didn’t drop my eyeshadow so I had no idea it was broken until I opened it and half of it fell out!

You’d think I’d realize that seashell rings are really fragile since I’ve had 2 now and they’re both broken. And of course they’re gifts from people so I can’t even go buy ones to replace them.
Also this shot looks pretty cool/hipster now that I’ve looked at it again haha

Boxing Day Haul

A little disappointed with Boxing Day this year. There wasn’t much of a sale at any of the stores I went to. Anyways here are some of the things I bought:

Shoppers Drug Mart

Awesome brush set for under $20 plus you can bring it when you travel!

Who doesn’t love glitter?!

Aritzia
If you’ve ever shopped there you’ll know their sales are usually $5 off so I tried to find items that were better priced haha

So comfy and it’s thicker than it looks. Also why pay for Wilfred pricing when it’s pretty much the same when you buy Talula?

It’s almost the same as my skulls shirt from Talula, but it was 50% off!

Aerie

Bath & Body Works
By far the best deal of the day. 90% off!

OMGEEEEEZ! I really want to play with glitter now.. although wearing this to an 8 AM class might be a bit much haha

Channeling My Inner J. Lo

Here’s a closeup of my eye makeup:

Tip Of The Day

As the temperature drops we’re all going to be a little more tempted to get a start on our holiday shopping for others and for ourselves (who doesn’t pamper themselves?!) but what you should remember is:

Don’t order/mail/ship makeup when it’s cold out.

Why? Because your chances of a broken eyeshadow palette increase! No one wants to receive broken makeup.

H&M Quad Eyeshadow Review

I think this eyeshadow is great if you’re just starting to get into makeup. There are no names for the colours so I’m going to refer to them as “light” and “dark” colours for obvious reasons.

The light colours are really nice and sheer, so perfect if you want to have minimal makeup on. The dark colours I found surprisingly dark and pigmented especially considering the price I paid for them!

Advantages:

  • It’s cheap.
I believe the whole palette was $7? Whatever. It was under $10 haha
  • Great for beginners.
You don’t have to invest a lot of money to get different colours and the light colours are not intimidating at all.
  • Shimmer.
Sometimes when products have shimmer in it, it can look a little tacky but I thought the shimmer was very grown up.
  • You get a variety.
You can easily do minimal makeup or a smokey eye with this one palette.

Disadvantages:

  • Don’t expect 24 hour lasting power.
There is a reason why the eyeshadows are a bargain.
  • They’re not matte.
If you want matte eyeshadows for your collection these won’t do it.
  • The light colours may be too sheer for you.

Overall the product is great for the price you pay, but I wouldn’t choose this if I was going out and needed my eyeshadow to last for extremely long periods of time. Great for quick makeup or if you’re in a rush to get to school.
