Maybelline Color Show Nail Lacquer Review

image

Colours shown: Limited Edition “Blast of Blue" 945, Wine & Dined 420, Limited Edition “Intense Teal" 930.

*Let me just start off by saying I am going to try and be a real blogger again. Lately I haven’t had time to really post anything worth reading so I’ve just been posting photos, but hopefully now I will have more time to put some real effort into this blog.

Anyways! I am so happy I purchased these nail polishes. They went on sale and I am always down to try new nail polishes so I got these 3 since most were super old colours so you could see them separating in the bottle. Here’s what I liked and didn’t like:

Advantages:

  • Great for travelling.
I was in Paris for 3 weeks and the last time I wanted to do was to paint my nails every week so I am so glad that these didn’t chip as soon as I got off the plane. (It’s happened before!) I only had to redo them once during my trip.
  • Chip resistant!
    Who doesn’t like that?!
  • Pretty colours.
They have a pretty nice range of colours so definitely something for everyone.
  • Cheap pricing.
I don’t remember the exact price for just one but it’s definitely under $10.

Disadvantages:

  • Layer up!
This definitely goes on thin so be prepared to do at least 2 layers to get your nail fully covered in colour.

Last words: I would absolutely repurchase and recommend! I am so happy about the colours I picked, the price I paid, and the quality of the nail polish.

ps. Apologies. I didn’t realize two were limited edition until I was writing down the colours.

Sally Hansen Salon Effects Review

I always had reservations whenever someone said “Trust me.. This nail polish lasts for at least a week!” since they might not participate in any activities that could wreck their nails (activities like washing the dishes, playing sports, etc.) I decided to give the Sally Hansen Salon Effects nail polish strips a try since they’re supposed to last 10 days and I could never design my nails like their stickers haha

Advantages:

  • Cool designs, and plenty of variations!
Even if I had the steadiest of hands I would never be able to replicate their designs.
  • Fits every nail.
The strips come in different sizes so you’ll be able to find a match for all of your nails!
  • 16 strips.
You get an extra 6 in case you make any mistakes haha
  • No DBP, Toluene, or Formaldehyde.

Disadvantages:

  • Requires a lot of patience and time.
A lot of people who told me to try these strips told me they are the quickest ways for them to apply nail polish, but I found this way more time consuming! You also have to be careful not to pull the stickers too much. Just way too much effort for nails.
  • Really hard to get clean edges.
Perhaps it’s just me, but I could not file the edges to be smooth.
  • Did not last 10 days.
These barely lasted throughout the evening for myself. I didn’t even have floor hockey that week, so they all managed to chip and tear I have no idea.

Last words: I would not repurchase. I think they’re really cool, but they are not for me since I do not have the patience to apply and file my nails. Plus with all that work you would expect them to last a lot longer, but they didn’t!

Avon’s Mocha nail polish.
I picked out this nail polish when I bought a bunch of stuff from Avon. I was a little hesitant since some of the reviews I saw weren’t so nice when it came to their  nail polishes, but overall I’m happy with my purchase and I will definitely purchase other colours.
I was pleasantly surprised about how fast this nail polish dries. Usually nail polishes that say they dry quickly take longer than what you expect.
The formula for this polish is also different. It feels thin but it’s very pigmented and I’m able to get away with only applying 1 coat.
There is always a deal when you purchase Avon products. I paid $2.99!
No formaldehyde, toluene or phthalates.
You get 12 mL of product which is fantastic especially for the price you’re paying!
The only bad thing is that since you are ordering from a catalog it is hard to see what the colours actually look like.
ps. For every bottle sold of Ballerina, Avon will donate $1 to the Avon Breast Cancer Crusade. Go here to purchase.
